Pieter du Preez is one of the grand names in route paracycling. A horrible car accident in 2003 left this South African man tetraplegic, but that did not stop him from being the first ever para-athlete to complete an Ironman race in 2013! Since 2014, Pieter launched his paracycling career quickly becoming an icon in the H1 hand cycling division.
He has diversified his para-athlete career by competing in many different sports including para track and field, paratriathlon and route paracycling. Pieter du Preez has won several medals at the UCI Route Paracycling World Championships since 2014.
During the last paralympics games held in Tokyo last September, du Preez got gold in the H1 individual time trial division. The paralympic champion will be competing during the next World Championships in Baie-Comeau.
